We’re changing employee engagement by building cultures of gratitude. Motivosity uses peer to peer recognition to build motivated teams.
We are a peer-to-peer recognition platform that actually gets used, with an average 95% usage rate. Our ThanksMattes Card means employees are carrying around company gratitude in their pockets and can spend their rewards dollars however they want. We’re not focused on giving awards and “stuff” to people – we’re focused on building motivated teams by creating cultures of gratitude.

1. Intro and Market Problem – Companies around the world work hard to engage their employees. But what does that REALLY mean? Employee engagement has been associated with annual surveys, productivity, turnover, recognition, innovation. In the last 40 years, employee productivity and engagement have been a mess. Frankly, even though companies were doing their best…these efforts haven’t worked. We know that
because engagement efforts have barely moved moved the needle. Know what makes it worse? A great resignation and hybrid work environments. Ends up that when employees can find a new job at the drop of a hat and they’re disconnected from their friends and co-workers, it doesn’t improve how they feel about being at work. At Motivosity, we’ve learned that employee engagement is really all about one thing – employee happiness. So, here’s what we’ve learned about delivering employee happiness: The happiest company cultures help employees be appreciated, connected, and led by great leaders. Happy people make for the BEST employees. That sounds like a win-win to us.
2. Intro tech, history, customers. How do we solve the problem? – You can’t tell the Motivosity story without starting with Scott Johnson’s. Scott built a company called Workfront and they did all the things a GREAT employer is supposed to do. Generous vacation policies, snacks, company parties. You name it, they had it. As the company grew into an enterprise organization, he started to hear whispers that the company wasn’t the same – people didn’t love working there like they used to. That’s when Motivosity was born. Scott decided to use technology to create a culture of connection and gratitude. Since then we’ve helped companies like Toyota, Chick-Fil-A, Health Equity and hundreds of other organizations get to the heart of employee engagement. Our secret? An obsessive focus on building connections, helping people be appreciated for their efforts and making managers awesome leaders.
3. What is USP? What can we do that others cant? There are a ton of options when it comes to employee engagement vendors. And if you love giving points or blenders, or being in control and running top down award programs… we’re probably not the right solution for you. So here’s some of the nitty gritty about what makes Motivosity different: We take a peer to peer approach. Imagine the impact of being recognized almost weekly for your efforts by managers AND peers. Those recognitions come with a dollar or two attached – real dollars. And what’s even more fun about that? Those dollars are directly linked to your new ThanksMatters Card. Think of a Visa debit card where you can spend your recognition dollars ANYWHERE you want.
You won’t find the ThanksMatters card from any of our competitors. But if that’s not enough of a differentiator our approach to engagement is all inclusive. Most vendors focus on engagement OR recognition, but we know the importance of both. Of course we focus on recognition, but Motivosity also includes 1:1 meeting management, personality profiles, strengthsfinder, interest groups, eNPS survey tools, and rich data reporting. (And no one else has a Yeti for their mascot!) Let have Scott take a brief moment and walk you through our platform. Motivosity helps make people happier at work with four products: Connect, Recognize, Lead, and Listen. CONNECT helps your employees get to know the people they work with, regardless of where they live or what team they’re a part of. Find the perfect partner for your next Tik-Tok dance challenge, because Motivosity connects people that share common interests. Everyone in the company can appreciate their peers, highlight their latest sale, or share pictures of Wilson, their new labradoodle. RECOGNIZE gives employees an easy way to send values-based recognition to their peers. Trying to promote teamwork, innovation or simply R-E-S-P-E-C-T within your company? Appreciations in Motivosity can callout your company’s specific values. Each “thank you” can also include a buck or two that can be spent on major retail gift cards, company swag, charitable donations or that flight you’ve been waiting to book to Hawaii. LEAD helps managers build meaningful relationships with individual team members. Most managers are well intentioned but don’t always get it right. Motivosity provides powerful ways to coach and set priorities. And the 1 on 1 meetings are the real gem. They keep team members and managers on the same page, thanks to preparation prompts, common agendas, and shared notes. Not to mention that’s all done collaboratively and in real-time. LISTEN gives leaders insights they need so they can understand and inspire their teams. You’re not at the watercooler anymore and you’ve likely hired people you’ll rarely see in person. So compensate for that separation with pulse surveys, eNPS, turnover data and dozens of other key reports. And it’s simple enough that it won’t require an internal, bi-annual campaign just to get your company to fill out a survey. With a 96% user adoption rate it’s no wonder Motivosity helps make people happier at work.
4. Impact? Customers we’ve helped: We can talk about the impact of Motivosity all day long. Our users are told “awesome job” 3.4 times per month and that number increases to almost 5 times per month when they use the ThanksMatters card. We see employee net promoter scores increase by 72% after companies start using Motivosity…ends up people are happier when they’re told they’re doing great work. We already called out Toyota, Chick-Fil and Health Equity as customers, but that feels REALLY good – so we’ll mention them again. We loved the story our friends at Doterra shared with us about when they launched Motivosity. Chris Farnsworth, the Vice President of Human Resources told us they had over a thousand appreciations the first day, and over 5000 in the first week– with a huge adoption from their frontline employees. Can you imagine what that does to company culture?
5. Quirks or limitations – Frankly, Motivosity isn’t built for everyone. There are plenty of enterprise companies out there that really want a top down program where managers have all the control. Our philosophy is that recognition is more successful when everyone is involved, which is why we take the peer to peer approach. If you care more about the rewards and complete control, you may choose to explore another vendor. But if you want to create a powerful culture with connection and gratitude at the center, Motivosity knows exactly how to help you make that happen. Internationally there are a few limitations users may experience, but they’re definitely not deal breakers. For example, gift card options vary by country, but we’ve addressed that with the ThanksMatters card we told you about earlier. Users across the world have access to a virtual version of the card and can tap to pay like they would with any virtual wallet. Otherwise, we don’t have a lot of quirks. (Okay…it took us a little while to include Gifs in our feed, but we’re there now!)
6. Where does your tech sit in the tech stack? Motivosity is typically managed within the Human Resources department. Though larger organizations often include their IT department for due diligence, many of our customers launch Motivosity within just a few days. We integrate with your Human Resources Information System – an open API makes anything possible, but we integrate with tools like Bamboo HR and Workday. It’s important to make those appreciations visible throughout the organization, so of course we integrate with Slack and Microsoft teams. And don’t worry, even though Motivosity includes dollars and gift cards, your CFO will love us – we make taxes and reporting so easy!
7. Pricing, onboarding, timeline of adoption. We’ve worked really hard to make our pricing, onboarding and adoption simple. Licenses are $5 per user per month. Most companies then provide $3-5 giving dollars to each employee to attach to their appreciations, but honestly, THAT’S IT! There are no fees, no onboarding costs, no pass through costs, nothing extra. Of course there are quantity discounts available based on company size, so be sure to give us a chance to discuss your specific situation. In addition to our recognition platform, we offer some really powerful tools that focus on manager development and employee sentiment scoring – it’s worth exploring the full suite with us. If you want to go live in a few days – we can make it happen. If you’re looking for an exciting, party kind of launch, which we love, it may take 3-4 weeks. Because Motivosity is so intuitive, you’ll see immediate usage from your team members and you’ll absolutely have stories to tell about appreciations throughout the company by your next all hands meeting. We’ve talked about ourselves enough. So we’ll let someone else finish the job for us. Chantel Chase, Director at Zions Bancorporation recently said: “Here’s the advice that I would give somebody that’s looking into [Motivosity]: It will be the easiest thing that you’ve ever done and give you the most lift in terms of retention and employee engagement.” If that doesn’t convince you, did we mention the yeti mascot? Thanks for spending a moment with us. We’re excited to show you how quickly Motivosity can help make your team members happier at work.
