Introduction

Hi, I’m Brad Prenger from Tag Inspector and this is our Tech Talk.
Tag Inspector is a proprietary tag auditing, governance, and monitoring platform that helps marketers address their compliance, data collection, and performance issues.
I am the Vice President of Partnerships and have spent the last 2 years at Tag Inspector helping enterprises build governance processes to streamline their data collection and monitoring efforts. We’re headquartered in Cincinnati and have offices around the globe to support our partners across a variety of governance needs.

Market problem

I’m sure many of you have seen the lumascapes that share the Martech industry and there are over 8,000 companies involved in the ecosystem… This rise of platforms and tracking in addition to new laws and regulation (CCPA and GDPR) over the past few years have increased the complexity and data chaos… In fact, we’ve seen many organizations 10x the number of tags/platforms loading on their website over the past 5 years. In 2020, organizations of all sizes are forced to take responsibility from a legal perspective but also struggle to manage multiple websites, stakeholders, 3rd parties etc….  This is where Tag Inspector can bring transparency, accountability, and on-going monitoring to maintain a compliant and data rich site.

Our Technology

Tag Inspector exists on thousands of sites globally and helps organizations in three key areas.
1. Compliance and Privacy: What tags are on my site, What purpose do they serve? What information are they collecting, etc. Cleanup and ensure the list of tags moving forward are blessed by business and legal teams – monitoring
2. Data Collection and Validation: Tags are not very reliable so how do I proactively monitor certain conditions that tend to break or fail. I.e. Ensure parameters are being passed, or simple remarketing tags are firing, etc. – alerts to make sure data is accurate
3. Performance: How can a group of tags impact my website performance. How do I hold my third parties accountable for their Dom Complete etc.

History of company

InfoTrust is our parent company (private) which serves as an end2end analytics consultancy which works with some of the largest enterprises in the world. Tag Inspector is a platform that we built for one of our customers many years ago as they had challenges managing thousands of websites across the globe. We fixed their data collection issues and realized this is an area where we could help every organization. It evolved into an entire suite of governance services where we help an organization understand their situation and setup a process to ensure compliance and reliability in the long-term. We’re on over 6000 sites globally and work with some of the largest companies in the CPG, Retail, and News and Media industries.

An ideal customer for us is an Enterprise who has lots of complexity, multiple websites, and needs to automate, monitor and alert a data governance process into the organization. This is critical for them both from a data collection standpoint as well as making sure the organization is abiding by the ever-changing laws and regulations that exist in the marketplace today.

What is your USP?

First, our platform is proprietary and I believe we’re the only company that offers true real-time and scanning functionality. Scanner to help address the compliance and privacy issues at an organization and our real-time tag to address those data collection and validation issues. We’re owned by InfoTrust which is a best-in-class analytics consultancy that understand very technical architecture and implementation including being agnostic to analytics stacks or tag managements systems.. It’s important that we’re not a tool but a full service platform to drive best-in-class customer data governance.

There are three primary components to pricing as we engage with new partners around a governance partnership. First – use case – Data Collection, Privacy/Compliance, and/or performance. Second – are you looking for our best-in-class full service support where our team works as an extension of the organization. Every engagement includes a full on-boarding and training to make sure your getting the value and ROI out of Tag Inspector and the only delay typically is in the paperwork process. It’s typically a combination of a project and annual Tag Inspector license which can vary significantly but happy to build customized engagements for our partners.
